In this final post on generosity, I'm going to show you 5 areas where everyone can learn to be generous. These are the 5 T's of Generosity and Christian Disciples are called to be generous in all of them.

  1. Time

Whilst we all have the same number of hours in each day, how we use our time varies enormously. We need to be more generous in the time we spend with others, and that starts with spending time with God. The things you spend most of your time on are the things that are most important to you. How generous are you in the time you spend with God, God’s people and others?

  1. Talents

Everyone has been given talents by God. And we are given talents by God, not so we can just make as much money as we can or to pursue fame; but to use our talents to build God’s Kingdom. If your talent is singing or playing an instrument, use it to bless the church, perhaps playing in the church musician’s group, use it to worship God and give him the glory. Whatever your talent, seek God’s guidance as to how you can use it to further God’s Kingdom.

  1. Treasure

I have already said much about money, but seek to use what God has given you, not to lay up treasures for yourself here on earth, but to lay up treasures in heaven. How do we do that? One way is to support other Christians in your church. After all they will one day be in heaven. Invest in God’s people so that you will have treasures in heaven.

  1. Touch

All of us need to be loved and to know that others care for us. To know that we are precious, not just to God, but to others as well. Be generous in touching the lives of others. There is a power in touch when you come alongside a Christian brother or sister in order to comfort them, support them, to care and to show love for them. Be generous in your speech, edify and build people up, and practice simple acts of kindness for one another.

  1. Truth

Finally; be generous in sharing the good news of the Gospel with others. Good news should be shared, so don’t leave it to others but step out in generosity. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing people in church and knowing that it was you that first shared the Gospel with them.

As you pick up and run with a spirit of generosity, then you will know good days ahead and a rich and blessed future in God. I wish you well.
